I’ve recently completed a special project. And it was even better since it was working with my alma mater, O’More College of Design in historic, downtown Franklin, Tennessee.
I collaborated with some of the faculty there to come up with an updated Graduation Announcement for the graduates this year. After all, they are a design school. So shouldn’t there Announcements really stand out?!
I created a custom watercolor illustration of the Abbey Leix Mansion, which is their most recognizable building, greeting you as you pull in from South Margin Street. The history of O’More is great and rich. What now makes up the college campus was utilized during the Civil War and destroyed then, but was quickly rebuilt and now holds a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places. Just another reason to highlight this building for such a special piece.
I used the illustration at the top of the layout with a classic script and serif font centered below, creating an overall traditional look for this occasion. Each’s graduate’s name was placed in the center in the green that the school uses for it’s branding. I also paired this Announcement with a green envelope, so it will stand out before it’s even opened.
From what I heard, everyone was pleased with how they turned out. They were excited to have an alumna using the skills they learned there to come up with something for them.
And because O’More is such a lovely, historic location, whether it’s your campus or not, many have events and weddings on the grounds. For that reason, I am offering my O’More design in my shop. Click here for more about ordering for yourself.
I also created these little Note Cards with my illustration, which are a great treat to get in the mail. These Note Cards are also available in my shop.
Do you have a special location you’d like to feature on an Invitation or other piece? Let us know! We’d love to collaborate to come up with something custom for you.
