Portrait: The England Children

A few months ago I was commissioned to do a portrait of the children of The England family. Their grandmother asked me to paint it so she could give to her daughter (their mom) as a Christmas gift. She snuck me the photo to reference, and I worked on, setting Christmas as a deadline.

Here is what I went by…

And with some time, acrylics and TLC, this is what I came up with…

And here are some close ups…

I wasn’t around when she was given her gift, but when I asked if she liked it, they said there were tears involved! I guess that’s a good sign, right?!

Portraits are one of the hardest subjects, in my opinion, to render. Either you capture the person, or you don’t. So I hope they love their portrait and cherish it for years as their kids grow up.

Portraits are great gifts and special keepsakes. If you think you’re interested in portrait for yourself or as a gift, contact us for a quote and with any questions.
