A few months ago I was commissioned to do a portrait of the children of The England family. Their grandmother asked me to paint it so she could give to her daughter (their mom) as a Christmas gift. She snuck me the photo to reference, and I worked on, setting Christmas as a deadline.

I wasn’t around when she was given her gift, but when I asked if she liked it, they said there were tears involved! I guess that’s a good sign, right?!
Portraits are one of the hardest subjects, in my opinion, to render. Either you capture the person, or you don’t. So I hope they love their portrait and cherish it for years as their kids grow up.
