You may have seen the preview post for this project a little bit ago.
Lauren contacted me about these custom invitations for a Christmas Open House she was hosting. Her request was as follows:
“I’d like to have a birdcage on the front with a bird on it & maybe some greenery with whatever those little red balls are called.. those Christmasy looking green leaves with the little red thing hahaha. I’m sure that makes a lot of sense. Anyway, that graphic, with “You are cordially invited….” in a script font on the front, and then the details of the party on the inside.“
And then she followed up with, “I want them to be very classy.. I’d like them to open up (not sideways). I’m thinking deep crimson (not apple) red envelopes and a creme colored card.. black birdcage with the outline of a small bird perched on it along with “Christmas like” details.. I’m not particular about those details.. maybe holly berries or twinkle lights! I have no doubt about your ability to execute beautiful artwork, so I know they’ll be great. Anything festive you think might look good.. I just don’t want a ton of color added.. small pops will be good…“
I really like when a client has an idea of what they are wanting, which she definitely did! It was fun turning her ideas into a physical product she could share with others. See how they turned out…
I created a custom hand-drawn illustration with pens and watercolor, then added the text Lauren provided (which has been changed for the privacy of my client). I printed them on the cream linen (shown up close in picture 2), which worked great with the red envelopes.
She was very pleased with how they turned out, and I hope her Open House was a smashing success!
